Where to buy those designer bargains? I love shopping in Chanel, Hermes and Louis Vuitton from time to time and have some treasured pieces from many top designers. A trip to Chanel is a treat and everything I own has proved to be a great investment and actually increased in value. A much better investment than money in a bank (this is what I tell my husband anyway!).
However, I also love shopping for a bargain especially when I travel such a lot. I own over 100 bikinis and kaftans, and like to get them on sale wherever possible. These are definitely not investment pieces so get them in the outlets or at sale time.
One of my favourite places to shop, which is not so secret seeing as it is the No.1 destination for Chinese visitors to England! This is Bicester Outlet Village. I have written about this before but it is worth revisiting as it has expanded in size and you will still find great deals.

Every favourite store you can imagine is here from Christian Dior, Prada, Burberry to Max Mara and Gucci. It is situated in Bicester, a market town near Oxford. It is very easy to get to Bicester if you are staying in London. Take a look at their website where you can book a seat on their Shopping Express coach which picks you up from all the major hotels in London. It costs £28 for adults and £20 for children. It will drop you off with all your shopping bags at your hotel at the end of the day!
White Company at Bicester Village
My favourite White Company can be found at Bicester. Shop here by clicking on my link on the right hand side of the page here.
The best time to bag a bargain here is at the end of the sales. At the end of the January sales and in early July at the end the summer sales.
I also LOVE TKMax in the UK, stores all over the country. You can buy online if you don’t live in the UK. The blue coat I am wearing at the top comes from TKMaxx and cost £29 (I had better not say which label!).
Where do I sell my Designer clothes, bags and shoes? I sell some of them here, at Vestiaire Collective. I give the proceeds to my favourite charity. They offer a great service selling the stuff and verifying the condition and authenticity before it is sent on to the buyer. I can recommend this for buying and selling and the service is available in most parts of the world. Check out their website by clicking on the link.
Valois Vintage is a fabulous luxury resale store or Depot Vente as it is called in french. They check every item for authenticity and condition before they accept it for sale. You will be assured that it is an original item as described. If you are selling with them, the service is professional and recommended.
Valois Vintage stands above other Depot Vente second hand resale shops in Paris. Take a look at their website.
Beware of some Depot Ventes, they are full of fakes at expensive prices! Unless you really know your stuff, avoid them! Valois Vintage is totally reliable for genuine designer goods.
TROYES OUTLET STORES:
If you venture outside Paris, Troyes is a treasure trove of factory stores! This is where a lost of big French brands make their clothes (including Chanel!) You will find Lacoste, Petit Bateau and many factory stores of your favourite brands. There is also McArthur Glen Outlet village with all my favourite french brands. Also Marques Avenue with about 20 more great brands at discount prices.
