Looking for something different for a night out? Yes, me too! Mamounia Lounge restaurant in London, fitted the bill with an exotic touch of the orient slap bang in the middle of Mayfair.
We knew we were in for an oriental treat straight away with lots of people sitting at the outside tables enjoying hubba bubba pipes. Step inside to a super stylish interior – dark and mysterious but super chic at the same time.
Downstairs for dinner after receiving a warm and friendly welcome by the staff who are both helpful and attentive. These tables were soon full and the place was buzzing.
I chose a Strawberry Mojito to sip whilst choosing for the interesting menu. Delicious!
The food is definitely the best thing about Mamounia, which is what everyone wants in a restaurant – good food at a sensible price. I love Lebanese and Moroccan cuisine and so I was in for a treat. Our Mezze selection was vegetarian Moussaka and Homous served with pitta bread.
Followed by Meshoui for my guest which is shoulder of lamb slowly roasted with Moroccan Spices, served with fresh dates Orange and Apricots which I am told was delicious. I ate lobster and Crab Tagine with asparagus, samphire, clams lobster bisque lemon confit and black olives – it was a triumph.
The food was as good as any I have eaten travelling to the Middle East, and you all know that I can be a Diva!
We were entertained by a terrific singer, musician and bellydancers, they were very tasteful and danced around the tables – wish I could do that wibbly wobbly thing with my belly. By this time I was transported to the Kasbah – I think the delicious Strawberry Mojito helped!
Scrummy Baclava to finish – I’m not sure how I managed to squeeze it in, definitely getting on the treadmill!
The place was still full and lively when we left. Thank you to Mamounia Lounge for a lovely evening – we will be back.
