Gillon Hunter of Beauchamp Estates shares some of his tips for living life to the full on the Cote d’Azur:
Q. What are your favourite things about the Cote d’Azur
What’s not to like? The climate has to be one of the best in the world. I love that you go from beaches to big mountains in only a few kilometres. The landscape has everything.
Food wise, oh la la! There are more Michelin stars along this coastline than stars in the sky I think.
Being so central in Europe means it’s super easy to get to the Cote d’Azur and be in your villa within 4 hours of leaving London or wherever else in Europe.
If you’re coming from the US, there are plenty of direct flights into Nice too.
So in a nutshell, I love it all.
Q. What do you enjoy doing here?
It’s all about the Beach clubs in summer and eating out in all the amazing restos.
Sports wise, the French Riviera is ideal for road and mountain biking. There’s a lot of good golf courses too if you like a good walk spoiled!
I like heading to rocky coves to go snorkelling or paddle boarding out to the Cannes islands. Bliss.
Q. Which is your favourite area?
Tricky question. There are so many! I’d have to say the areas around St-Tropez and Pampelonne beach are up there.
Cannes is special there’s no doubt about that. I also like to get away from it all and head into the hills in the French Riviera hinterland. Places like St Paul de Vence have to be on your tick list when you visit.
Q. Packing recommendations for a visit.
Bring a camera! This area is more photographic than George Clooney and Julia Roberts on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet.
If you’re staying in one of these villas, you won’t need much other than your clothes and essentials. The villas are so well equipped with everything you could possibly need.
From April to October is warm. July and August being incredibly hot. So you won’t need to pack your woollies.
Unless of course, you decide to come in the winter. We have several good ski resorts within 2 hours drive of Cannes.
