Who Plays Rusty in the New Vacation?

By Alice Nichols

If you’re a fan of the comedy film genre, you’ve probably heard of the 2015 movie “Vacation.” This film is a continuation of the popular National Lampoon’s “Vacation” series, which started in 1983 with Chevy Chase in the lead role.

The new “Vacation” features a whole new cast, including Ed Helms as Rusty Griswold. But who plays Rusty in the new “Vacation”?

The answer is simple: it’s Ed Helms. Helms is an American actor and comedian, best known for his work on “The Office” and “The Hangover” film series. He plays Rusty Griswold, the son of Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase’s character from the original films) and Ellen Griswold (played by Beverly D’Angelo).

In this film, Rusty has grown up and now has a family of his own. He decides to take his wife Debbie (played by Christina Applegate) and their two sons on a road trip to Walley World, just like his father did in the original movie.

Helms brings his comedic talent to this role and does an excellent job portraying Rusty as a middle-aged man trying to recapture the magic of his childhood family vacations. His interactions with his family members are hilarious, as he tries to keep everyone together while dealing with various mishaps along the way.

One of the standout scenes in “Vacation” is when Rusty takes his family to visit his sister Audrey (Leslie Mann), who is married to Stone Crandall (Chris Hemsworth). The scene shows off Helms’ comedic timing and wit as he tries to impress Stone with his own masculinity.

Overall, Ed Helms does an outstanding job playing Rusty in this new iteration of the classic National Lampoon’s “Vacation” movies. His comedic talent and chemistry with the other actors make this film a must-see for fans of the series and newcomers alike.
