The Norwegian Gem cruise ship is one of the largest vessels in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet. Constructed in 2007, the vessel weighs in at 93,502 tons and is 965 feet long. The ship has a passenger capacity of over 2,400 and features 15 decks and 835 staterooms.

The Gem was built by the Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. On October 11th, 2007, after months of construction and testing, the ship made its maiden voyage from Dover to New York City. The voyage was met with much fanfare as it marked the first time a German-build vessel had ever crossed the Atlantic Ocean.

Since its launch in 2007, the Gem has been used mainly for Caribbean cruises but also offers Bahamas and Bermuda cruises as well as other itineraries. The ship is equipped with a wide range of amenities and facilities such as multiple dining venues, a spa & fitness center, casino gaming options, and shopping outlets.
