It is no surprise that when it comes to tourist destinations, many countries can come to mind. With the world’s diverse culture and landscapes, travelers often do not know where to start.

From modern cities to ancient ruins, the options are seemingly endless. So which country is the top tourist destination?

When it comes to sheer numbers of visitors, France is the top tourist destination in the world. In 2019, France welcomed almost 90 million international tourists and had a tourism revenue of $58 billion.

This is due to its beautiful natural attractions such as the Mediterranean coast and Alps as well as its rich cultural heritage stemming from its long history. The country also has some of the most iconic man-made monuments in Europe such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, and Louvre Museum.

The USA is another popular tourist destination that attracts people from all over the world for both leisure and business travel. In 2019, there were 75 million international visitors who spent over $250 billion on their trips.

This makes it one of the most profitable countries in terms of tourism revenue. Tourists come from all over for iconic sites such as The Statue of Liberty in New York City or The White House in Washington D.C., but also enjoy exploring America’s national parks and beaches along both coasts or discovering its vibrant cities like Los Angeles or Miami.

China’s popularity as a tourist destination has grown significantly over the years and now stands at number three with annual international visitor numbers reaching 62 million in 2019. It is well known for its many historical sites such as The Great Wall and Forbidden City, but also offers a wide range of other attractions including stunning natural scenery across much of its vast landscape.

Conclusion

It can be seen from these figures that France is currently leading when it comes to attracting tourists from around the world due to its varied attractions and cultural heritage, followed closely by the USA and China respectively. It remains to be seen if any other country can surpass them in terms of visitor numbers or revenue in coming years.
