What Is Difference Between Destination Wedding and Normal Wedding?

By Anna Duncan

A destination wedding has become a popular trend in recent years as couples look for unique and exotic ways to exchange their vows. A destination wedding is a wedding that takes place away from the couple’s hometown, usually at a resort or other location that requires some travel. While a traditional wedding typically takes place near or at the couple’s hometown, with family and friends all able to attend, a destination wedding often requires some of the guests to travel to attend.

Apart from the location, what is the difference between a destination wedding and a regular one? There are several key differences that can make planning for each type of event much different.

Cost
Destination weddings tend to cost more than regular weddings because of additional costs such as travel and lodging for guests who will be attending from out of town. In addition, if you are having your ceremony at an all-inclusive resort, you may have to pay additional fees for food, drinks, and activities for your guests. On the other hand, traditional weddings can be less expensive since you don’t have to worry about these extra costs.

Size
Destination weddings usually have fewer guests since those who cannot afford or do not want to travel are not likely to attend. This can make it easier to plan since you don’t have as many people that need to be accommodated. Traditional weddings typically have more guests since everyone is able to come without having to pay for travel expenses.

Style
When it comes to style, both types of weddings can be formal or casual depending on your preference. However, destination weddings tend to be more relaxed due to their tropical location and the fact that many of your guests will already be on vacation when they attend the ceremony. Traditional weddings tend to be more formal due to their home-town setting and because many of your guests will not already be on vacation mode like they would at a destination wedding.

Conclusion:

What is difference between destination wedding and normal wedding? Destination weddings cost more due to additional costs such as travel and lodging for out-of-towners; tend to have fewer guests; and are usually more relaxed due traditional weddings being more formal in nature with more people in attendance who might not already by on vacation mode like those attending a destination wedding would be.
