The RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that famously sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in 1912 after colliding with an iceberg. It was the largest passenger steamship in the world at the time, measuring 882 feet 9 inches (269.1 m) long and 92 feet 6 inches (28.2 m) wide. Despite a number of safety features including 16 watertight compartments and a double hull, it was not enough to prevent it from sinking after the collision with the iceberg.
The Titanic’s size stands in stark contrast to the largest cruise ship in the world today, Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas. Symphony of the Seas measures 1,188 feet long and 215.5 feet wide. It is more than 300 feet longer than Titanic and more than twice as wide, yet it is still able to carry up to 6,680 passengers!
Symphony of the Seas also boasts some impressive features that were unheard of when Titanic was built, such as two 43-foot-long zip lines and an ice rink on board. The ship also includes several restaurants, cafes, bars and lounges along with fitness centers and even a casino.

The Titanic may have been an impressive feat of engineering for its time but it pales in comparison to modern cruise ships like Symphony of the Seas which is more than 300 feet longer and twice as wide!
