When it comes to tourism, there are many countries that come to mind. Some might think of France and its romantic city of Paris, while others might think of the exotic beaches of Thailand. But which country is truly the #1 destination for tourists?

Let’s take a look at the numbers. According to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the most visited country in 2019 was.. France! With a whopping 89 million international arrivals, France has held the title for several years now.

But what makes France such a popular destination? For starters, it’s home to some of the world’s most famous landmarks and attractions, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, and Notre-Dame Cathedral. It also boasts a rich history and culture, with charming cities like Lyon and Bordeaux offering visitors a glimpse into traditional French life.

But France isn’t the only country that draws in millions of tourists each year. In fact, four out of the top five most visited countries are all located in Europe: Spain (83 million), Italy (64 million), and Turkey (51 million). The United States rounds out the top five with 79 million international arrivals.

So what about other regions around the world? Asia is home to some of the fastest-growing tourism destinations, with countries like China, Thailand, and Japan all seeing significant increases in tourist arrivals over recent years. In Africa, Egypt remains a popular destination thanks to its ancient landmarks like the pyramids.

It’s clear that there are many factors that contribute to a country’s popularity among tourists. From stunning natural landscapes to vibrant cities rich in culture and history, each destination has something unique to offer visitors. And with more people traveling than ever before, it’s likely that the list of top tourism destinations will continue to evolve in the years to come.

As you plan your next trip, consider adding one of these top destinations to your itinerary. Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, or a bit of both, there’s a country out there that’s sure to capture your heart.
