Where Can I Vacation in Virginia Mountains?

By Alice Nichols

Virginia is a state that often surprises people with its beautiful and diverse landscapes. While many may think of Virginia as a coastal state, the mountains in the western part of the state are just as stunning. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast or just looking for a peaceful retreat, there are plenty of vacation options in Virginia’s mountains.

Shenandoah National Park

One of the most popular destinations in Virginia’s mountains is Shenandoah National Park. Spanning over 200,000 acres, Shenandoah offers visitors breathtaking views from Skyline Drive, which winds along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

There are also over 500 miles of trails to explore, ranging from easy strolls to challenging hikes. Those who prefer to take in the scenery from their car can drive along Skyline Drive and stop at any of the numerous overlooks.
