Who Is Present Tourism Minister?

Tourism is an essential sector that contributes significantly to the economy of any country. In India, the tourism industry has witnessed tremendous growth in recent years, thanks to the efforts of the government and its ministers. One such minister who plays a vital role in promoting tourism in India is the present Tourism Minister.

The current Tourism Minister of India is G. Kishan Reddy, who took charge on July 8th, 2021. He has been appointed as the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Development of North Eastern Region by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. Reddy is a Member of Parliament from Secunderabad constituency in Telangana State and is associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Reddy has been actively involved in politics for over four decades and has held various positions in both state and national levels. He served as a member of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1985-89 and also as an MLA from Andhra Pradesh from 1999-2004. Additionally, he was elected as a Member of Parliament for two terms- first from Mahbubnagar Lok Sabha constituency in 2004 and then from Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency in 2014.

As the Tourism Minister, Reddy’s primary responsibility is to promote tourism in India by developing new policies and strategies that can attract more tourists to the country. He has been actively involved in promoting tourism in his home state Telangana by launching several initiatives aimed at attracting more tourists.

Under his leadership, the Ministry of Tourism has launched several programs such as Swadesh Darshan Scheme, PRASHAD Scheme, Adopt a Heritage Scheme to promote tourism across various states of India. These schemes aim at developing tourist infrastructure across various destinations like heritage sites, pilgrimage sites, beaches etc.

His appointment as the current Tourism Minister of India is a testament to the government’s commitment to promoting tourism in the country.
