Where Is Cruise Ship Minerva Now?

By Robert Palmer

Cruise Ship Minerva was a luxury cruise ship that sailed the Mediterranean Sea for more than 25 years. It was launched in April 1995 and served as a home for thousands of passengers who wanted to experience the beauty of the Mediterranean.

The Minerva was owned by Minerva Cruise Lines, a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation. The ship had a capacity of 1,600 passengers and it featured luxurious amenities such as swimming pools, restaurants, bars, and casinos. It also boasted an on-board spa, fitness center, and beauty salon.

The Minerva offered a variety of itineraries to its passengers including excursions to some of the most beautiful ports in the Mediterranean. During its years sailing the sea, it visited destinations such as Greece, Italy, Spain, France and Turkey. Passengers could also enjoy on-shore activities such as sightseeing tours to some of Europe’s most iconic cities like Rome and Athens.

In December 2019, after more than two decades at sea, it was announced that Cruise Ship Minerva would be retired from service due to declining demand for cruise holidays in the Mediterranean region. The decision came after months of speculation about the future of the ship.

At first it was reported that Carnival Corporation had decided to transfer the ship to Asia but this did not materialize due to logistical issues with refitting the vessel for that market.

Since then there has been much speculation about what will become of the Minerva with some reports suggesting that it may be sold off for scrap or sent to a Caribbean port for further use. However nothing has been confirmed yet so its exact whereabouts remain unknown as of now.
