The History of the House

The Christmas Vacation house was built in 1987 specifically for use in filming. The production team chose this location because it closely resembled a typical suburban Chicago home. After filming wrapped up, the house was sold and has remained a private residence ever since.

Visiting the Christmas Vacation House

While it’s not possible to tour or enter the inside of the Christmas Vacation house as it remains a private residence, visitors are welcome to drive by and take pictures from outside. Just keep in mind that this is someone’s home and be respectful of their privacy.
