Are You Allowed to Smoke on Cruise Ship Balconies?

By Robert Palmer

Cruise ships offer many wonderful amenities and activities, but one thing they don’t allow is smoking on balconies. Cruise ship balconies are a great place to relax and take in the scenery, but unfortunately, they are not designated as smoking areas. This rule is in place to protect the health and safety of all passengers and crew members.

The dangers of smoking on a cruise ship balcony are numerous. First and foremost, it can create a fire hazard.

If a cigarette or cigar is not completely extinguished before being thrown overboard, it can easily start a fire on the deck below. Additionally, smoke from cigarettes or cigars can drift into staterooms or other public areas of the ship, creating an unpleasant environment for non-smokers.

Cruise lines take these rules very seriously and any violation could result in disciplinary action from the cruise line. Passengers who violate this rule may be asked to leave the ship at their own expense or even banned from ever sailing with that particular cruise line again.

Furthermore, many countries have laws prohibiting smoking in certain public places such as cruise ships, so it is important to be aware of any local regulations when traveling abroad. In some cases, fines may be imposed for those who do not comply with the law.

Smoking is not allowed on cruise ship balconies for good reason; however there are still plenty of places onboard where passengers can enjoy their favorite cigar or cigarette without fear of reprimand from the crew or other passengers. Many ships offer designated smoking rooms where guests can relax in comfort while still following all safety protocols put in place by the cruise line.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, it is important to remember that smoking on cruise ship balconies is strictly prohibited due to health and safety reasons and should not be attempted under any circumstances. While there are designated smoking areas onboard most ships, these should always be used when lighting up.
