Can Canadians Travel to the US for Business?

By Michael Ferguson

As of right now, travelling to the US for business purposes is a complex situation. Although the US-Canada border remains closed to most non-essential travel, there is an exception for those travelling for reasons related to business.

This includes activities such as conducting meetings or attending conferences, trade shows and conventions. However, this does not include leisure or tourism activities.

Those who are eligible to travel between Canada and the US must follow specific rules and regulations. In order to be allowed entry into the US, those travelling must have a valid passport or NEXUS card; proof of essential travel; and a valid reason for travel from an approved list compiled by the US government. Travellers may also be required to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in either country.

Canadian businesses that wish to travel to the US should ensure that they have all necessary documentation before attempting entry. This includes any invitation letters from American companies indicating their need for Canadian talent or expertise. It is also important that travellers be prepared to answer questions about their purpose of visit.

Conclusion:

Canadians can travel to the US for business purposes as long as they meet certain criteria and have all necessary documentation. However, it is important that they are aware of all current restrictions in place due to COVID-19 before attempting entry into the country.
