Did I Tell You About the Time I Went Backpacking to Western Europe?

By Michael Ferguson

It was such an incredible experience!

I had always dreamt of visiting Europe and when I heard about a backpacking trip across the continent, I knew it was something that I had to do. So, with a few friends, we set off on our journey in early June.

The first stop on our trip was Paris, France. We stayed in a hostel right in the heart of the city and loved every minute of it.

We explored all the iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral, took pictures of them and ate lots of delicious pastries. We also went up to Montmartre and enjoyed magnificent views over Paris at sunset.

From Paris, we traveled to Amsterdam in The Netherlands where we spent a few days. The canals and cobblestone streets were so beautiful!

We visited some amazing museums like the Van Gogh Museum and Anne Frank House Museum, which were both incredibly moving experiences. We also had lots of fun visiting some local cafes and trying out Dutch delicacies like poffertjes (mini pancakes).

Next up was Germany! We stopped by Munich before heading to Berlin for a few days.

In Munich, we toured around Marienplatz Square and Hofbräuhaus beer hall before spending an entire day exploring Neuschwanstein Castle – an absolutely stunning castle that’s fit for royalty! In Berlin, we took part in some historical walking tours where we learnt more about the city’s turbulent past. We also visited Checkpoint Charlie – one of the most famous crossing points between East and West Berlin during the Cold War era – which was quite a surreal experience.

Finally, our last stop was Prague in Czech Republic before heading home after our amazing backpacking journey across Western Europe!

Conclusion: All in all, my backpacking trip to Western Europe was truly unforgettable! From exploring iconic landmarks to learning more about each country’s history – it was truly an eye-opening experience that I will never forget.
