Did They Find the Girl Who Fell Off the Cruise Ship?

By Robert Palmer

The story of the missing girl who fell off the cruise ship is one that has many people wondering if she was ever found. On July 13th, 2019, an 8-year-old girl named Evha Jannath fell off a ride on board a Drayton Manor theme park cruise ship in the United Kingdom. She had been on a school trip with her classmates and was playing in the seating area with her friends when she fell into the water.

The search for Evha began immediately. Police, firefighters, and divers all joined in the effort to locate her body.

The search took place in an area of approximately half a mile around the theme park. Over 300 emergency responders worked for two days to locate Evha.

Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, Evha was never located. Her body was eventually found by two fishermen about five miles away from where she had fallen into the water. It appeared that she had been swept away by strong currents.

The cause of death was determined to be drowning by an inquest jury at Stafford Coroner’s Court in October 2019. The jury also found that there had been “a lack of supervision” while Evha was on board the cruise ship and “insufficient risk assessments”.

Conclusion: Did they find the girl who fell off the cruise ship? Sadly, no they did not. Evha Jannath’s body was eventually found by two fishermen five miles away from where she had fallen into the water, but it was too late to save her life.
