Does Disney Have Extended Hours for Resort Guests?

By Anna Duncan

Disney World is one of the most visited theme parks in the world. The park offers a variety of attractions, shows, and events that are sure to keep visitors entertained throughout their stay. However, with so much to see and do, it can be difficult to fit everything into one day.

This is where extended hours come in handy. But does Disney have extended hours for resort guests? Let’s find out.

What are Extended Hours?

Extended hours are additional operating hours that Disney World offers to its guests. During these times, the park stays open longer than its usual operating hours. This allows visitors to experience more rides, shows, and attractions without feeling rushed.

Types of Extended Hours

Disney World offers two types of extended hours:

  • Magic Kingdom – Extra Magic Hours
  • Other Parks – After Hours

Magic Kingdom – Extra Magic Hours

Extra Magic Hours are exclusive to Disney resort guests staying at select hotels within the Disney World property. During these times, Magic Kingdom opens either an hour early or stays open up to three hours after regular closing time. These extra hours allow resort guests to enjoy popular attractions such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Space Mountain with shorter wait times.

Important Note: Extra Magic Hours do not guarantee low wait times for all attractions during these extended operational periods.

Other Parks – After Hours

After Hours event takes place at other parks such as Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot. This event allows all guests (including non-Disney resort guests) to enjoy some of the park’s most popular attractions without long lines or crowds. Visitors can enjoy over 25 popular attractions during this event with little to no wait time.

How to Access Extended Hours?

Accessing extended hours is easy. For Extra Magic Hours at Magic Kingdom, guests staying at select Disney resort hotels can use their MagicBand or resort ID to enter the park during the extended hours. For After Hours events, guests can purchase a separate ticket to attend.

Conclusion

Disney World offers extended hours for its guests to enjoy more attractions and shows without feeling rushed. Extra Magic Hours are exclusive to Disney resort guests, while After Hours events are open to all visitors.

Whether you’re staying at a Disney resort or not, there’s always an opportunity to enjoy some of your favorite rides and attractions with little wait time. Make sure to check the park schedule for extended hours during your visit!
