Does Georgia Have a Cruise Ship Port?

By Anna Duncan

Georgia has a rich history of coastal living that dates back to the very first colonization of the southeastern state. From Savannah to Tybee Island, Georgia offers an abundance of beaches and coastal towns, including a number of ports. So, does Georgia have a cruise ship port?

The answer is yes.

Georgia has several ports on its coast that are home to cruise ships. The most notable of which is the Port of Savannah, located on the Savannah River near downtown Savannah. This port is one of the busiest in the United States and hosts a variety of cruise ships, including Royal Caribbean International, Carnival Cruise Lines, and Holland America Line.

In addition to the Port of Savannah, other cruise ship ports in Georgia include Brunswick’s Colonel’s Island Terminal in Glynn County and St. Marys’ Kings Bay Submarine Base in Camden County. Both locations offer seasonal cruises from various lines. However, unlike Savannah, these ports are much smaller and are mainly used by military vessels or as a stop for private yachts.

Although there are only three official ports in Georgia with regular cruise ship activity, there are also other places on the coast where passengers can embark or disembark from a ship. These include St Simons Island Pier in Glynn County and Sautee Nacoochee Pier in White County. These locations offer additional access points for travelers who may not be able to make it to one of the designated ports.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, Georgia does have a cruise ship port – The Port of Savannah – as well as several other smaller ports located throughout the state. These ports provide access points for travelers looking to embark or disembark from their voyage while visiting this beautiful state.
