You will feel cherished and cared for from the moment you step off the plane and arrive in Crete.  The first time I have ever been met before my luggage arrived and whisked off to my Mercedes Limousine.  A stress free check in and warm welcome by the staff awaited me at the hotel.

My Suite 323 was exquisite….. a cool, white design, minimalist and just perfect. A glass of Champagne waiting for me with some delicious late night snacks.  See what I mean? Every little detail is perfection!

Sleep like a baby in the comfortable bed and wake up to superb sea views and the sound of Ocean waves lapping the shore.

Wake up to a superb breakfast.  What do you feel like eating? I guarantee you will find it here!  A buffet breakfast at Amirandes Restaurant is indeed a veritable feast.  “Eat breakfast like a King” or Queen in my case.  I was definitely feeling a bit regal with such great personal service by all the staff.

Choose super healthy options like home made Yoghurt, Granola or Cretan Specialities such as the pastries, every type of hot breakfast and the yummiest Waffles.  Can you resist starting the day with a glass of Prosecco?

I arrived feeling tired after a strenuous Safari in Uganda, but by now I feel chilled, relaxed and floating around on a cloud and fully revived.

Legendary Cretan hospitality, a unique hideaway that sets new standards of exclusivity, Grecotel Amirandes has landscaped grounds, 3 beaches, 212 luxurious rooms, Suites, Bungalows, Villas and Residences.  Many have private Pools.

An Olympic sized outdoor pool, indoor pool for guests. No fewer than 9 Restaurants and Bars, A watersports Centre, Tennis and Golf.  All set in the most luxurious surroundings.

A morning at Amirandes Spa is guaranteed to make you look and feel your very best.  I enjoyed  a Bright and Light Facial which leaves skin luminous and rehydrated.  The Ayurvedic treatments looked very tempting.  There is a super gym too … packed my gym gear but didn’t have time to use it.  There was an urgent appointment in my Beach Cabana!

Every Suite has its own Cabana with complimentary water and fresh fruit.  The beaches are lovely and did not feel busy at all, despite the hotel being at full capacity.  The Villas have their own private pools.

The perfect end to a perfect day? A glass of wine in my exquisite Suite watching the sunset, followed by the most delicious dinner at Minotaur.

Dinner at Minotaur was a memorable treat.  How often do we get a chance to dine surrounded by Picasso original ceramics and artwork?  Picasso was influenced by the Minotaur legend.   Knossos Palace is a few kilometres away and home of the Minotaur.  I was so captivated, I visited Knossos the next day!  Definitely worth a visit.

A superb Italian meal started with the arrival of an impressive Gin trolley with a connoisseur collection of artisan Gin and Tonic.  Interestingly, our first course was paired with Gin too.  A delicious selection of local Cretan wines accompanied my meal.

The dishes are a work of art in themselves.  The chef has cleverly taken inspiration from Picasso works or art.  Every dish was a treat for the tastebuds, delicate flavours complimenting the local ingredients.  A favourite was the Lobster with Spaghetti.

There are nine restaurants and bars to choose here, so you will never be bored and always have something new to try.  I enjoyed lunch at Petrine, delicious al fresco dining looking out to sea.  All of my meals were the usual standard of excellence and created by top chefs that are a hallmark of Grecotel.

A perfect end to a perfect day at Grecotel Amirandes followed by a good nights sleep and a following day exploring the island of Crete!
