By Anna Duncan

Cruise ships are a popular form of vacation, with more than 27 million passengers setting sail every year. With such a large number of people, it’s no surprise that cruise ships can be the Target of robberies. But has any cruise ship ever been robbed?

The answer is yes. Cruise ships have experienced robberies in the past, though they are rare. In 2020, a cruise ship docked in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands was robbed by two men who broke into the ship and stole jewelry and cash from passengers’ cabins.

In another incident in 2018, a group of thieves boarded a cruise ship during its stop in Nassau and stole items from multiple cabins. The thieves were eventually apprehended by security personnel.

These incidents of robbery on board cruise ships are quite rare, however. Most major cruise lines have strict security protocols and employ personnel to patrol their vessels to ensure passenger safety. Additionally, many cruise lines also implement security cameras throughout their vessels.

Conclusion:

Despite the rarity of incidents involving robbery on board cruise ships, they do occur from time to time. To ensure passenger safety, most major cruise lines maintain strict security protocols and employ personnel to patrol their vessels as well as implementing security cameras throughout their vessels.
