Has Columbus Cruise Ship Been Sold?

By Anna Duncan

It has been recently announced that the Columbus Cruise Ship owned by Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) has been sold. This news comes as a surprise to many, as CMV had only just recently acquired the ship in February of this year.

The Columbus was originally built in 1988, and had been servicing passengers for over three decades before being acquired by CMV earlier this year. The cruise line stated at the time of acquisition that they planned to use the ship for UK and Northern Europe cruises in 2021.

However, it appears that plans have changed and the ship will now be sold to a yet unknown buyer. The decision to sell comes as CMV is looking to focus more on its newer ships, such as Astoria and Magellan.

The sale of the Columbus is expected to be finalized within the next few weeks and CMV is already actively searching for new vessels that will replace it in their fleet.

Conclusion:

It appears that after a short stint with Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV), the Columbus Cruise Ship has been sold. Although its original plan was to be used for UK and Northern Europe cruises in 2021, CMV has decided instead to focus on its newer ships such as Astoria and Magellan. The sale of the Columbus is expected to be finalized within the coming weeks.
