How Big Is the Disney Magic Cruise Ship?
The Disney Magic cruise ship has been the flagship vessel of Disney Cruise Line since 1998. It is a mid-sized cruise ship with an overall length of 964 feet (294 meters) and a gross tonnage of 84,000 tons. The ship can accommodate 2,700 passengers and 950 crew members, making it one of the largest cruise ships in operation today.
The Disney Magic is outfitted with a variety of amenities such as 10 decks, 11 restaurants, four pools, two theaters, and numerous lounges and bars. It also has an extensive kids’ club area where children can participate in activities like art classes and scavenger hunts. The ship also offers special programs for adults such as wine tastings, cooking classes, and karaoke nights.
The ship is powered by two diesel engines that generate up to 70 megawatts of power. This allows the vessel to reach speeds of up to 22 knots (25 mph).
Onboard amenities are powered by six diesel generators that produce 7 megawatts each. The ship features state-of-the-art stabilizers which allow for smoother cruising even in rough seas.
In addition to its size and impressive amenities, the Disney Magic is also known for its unique design features such as its iconic Mickey Mouse stern which was designed by Walt Disney Imagineers. The exterior of the ship is decorated with murals from classic films such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Toy Story 2 along with other recognizable characters from other films like Peter Pan’s Captain Hook or Captain Nemo from 20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.
