How Do Cruise Workers Live on the Ship?

By Robert Palmer

Cruise workers are responsible for many of the services that make a cruise ship vacation as enjoyable as it is. From the cabin staff, to the restaurant waiters and galley crew, they provide guests with a luxurious and memorable experience. So, how do these hardworking individuals live on board a cruise ship?

Cruise workers live in crew quarters which are usually located in the lower deck of the ship. These rooms are typically small and basic, with few amenities such as air conditioning.

Because of this, most cruise ships have strict rules about noise levels at night and during work hours to ensure that everyone has a good night’s rest. Crew members also have access to several shared areas such as laundry facilities, internet cafes, and gymnasiums.

In addition to their living quarters, cruise workers also have access to an array of recreational activities on board the ship. Play areas such as basketball courts, swimming pools, and movie theatres provide entertainment opportunities for crew members during downtime. Some ships even offer special discounts on meals in the dining areas or free drinks at certain bars.

When it comes to their personal lives, cruise workers often find it difficult to stay connected with friends and family back home while they’re away at sea. To help combat this issue, many ships are now equipped with satellite phones so that crew members can call home once a week or even more frequently if needed.

Conclusion:

Cruise workers live in small quarters located on the lower deck of ships but have access to recreational activities and shared facilities. They also have access to satellite phones so they can stay in touch with loved ones back home while away at sea. Although living conditions can be challenging for cruise workers due to tight living spaces and long working hours, it is still possible for them to enjoy their time spent at sea.
