By Alice Nichols

Do you love hitting the open road and exploring new places? If so, you’ll be glad to know that Google Maps can help you plan your next road trip.

With this app, you can map out your route, find interesting stops along the way, and even estimate your fuel costs. In this tutorial, we’ll explain step-by-step how to create a road trip on Google Maps App.

Step 1: Open Google Maps

The first step is to open the Google Maps app on your mobile device. If you don’t have it installed yet, download it from the App Store or Play Store.

Step 2: Set Your Start and End Points

Once you have the app open, click on the “Directions” button in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen. Enter your starting point and destination into the appropriate fields. You can also select different modes of transportation such as driving, walking, or cycling.

TIP:

You can add multiple destinations by clicking on “Add destination” button below “End Point”.

Step 3: Add Stops Along The Way

If you want to make stops along the way to your final destination, click on “Add Stop”. This will allow you to add as many stops as you want in between your starting point and end point.

TIP:

You can drag and drop your stops in any order by tapping & holding three dots beside it.

Step 4: Explore Places To Visit

Google Maps also allows you to explore places of interest along your route. Simply tap on “Explore nearby” icon (a circle with four dots) below “End Point” when adding a stop. This will bring up a list of popular attractions such as restaurants or parks that are within a certain distance from where you are.

Step 5: Save Your Route

Once you are happy with your road trip, save your route by clicking on the “Save” button in the top right-hand corner of your screen. This will allow you to access your saved route later or share it with friends who may want to take a similar trip.

Step 6: Estimate Fuel Costs

If you want to estimate how much fuel you will need for your trip, click on “Options” button below “End Point” and select “Add a stop”. Then add a gas station near your starting point and one near the end point. Google Maps will automatically calculate the approximate fuel cost for your trip.

The Bottom Line

Creating a road trip on Google Maps app is an easy and fun way to plan your next adventure. With just a few clicks, you can map out your route, find interesting stops along the way, and even estimate your fuel costs.
