By Robert Palmer

In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing mods for Rome 2. Mods are a great way to enhance your gaming experience by adding new features, improving graphics, and introducing exciting gameplay changes.

Step 1: Finding Mods

Before you can install mods, you need to find them. There are several websites where you can download mods for Rome 2.

Some popular modding platforms include the Steam Workshop, Nexus Mods, and ModDB.

To find mods on these platforms, simply search for “Rome 2” and browse through the available options. It’s important to read the mod descriptions, user reviews, and check if the mod is compatible with your version of Rome 2.

Step 2: Downloading Mods

Once you have found a mod you want to install, click on the download button or subscribe to it if using the Steam Workshop. The mod file will be saved to your computer.

Step 3: Extracting Mod Files

Most mods come in compressed file formats like .zip or .rar. To access the mod files, you need to extract them using a file compression tool like WinRAR or 7-Zip. Right-click on the downloaded file and select “Extract Here” or choose a destination folder.

Step 4: Finding Rome 2 Data Folder

To install mods correctly, you need to locate the Rome 2 data folder on your computer. The default installation path for Rome 2 is usually:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War Rome II\data

Note:

If you have installed Rome 2 in a different directory, you will need to navigate to that folder instead.

Step 5: Installing Mods

Now that you have extracted the mod files and found the Rome 2 data folder, it’s time to install the mods. Most mods consist of several files and folders.

Copy the mod files from the extracted folder and paste them into the Rome 2 data folder.

If prompted, choose to replace any existing files with the modded ones. This step may vary depending on the mod you are installing, so always refer to the mod’s installation instructions if provided.

Step 6: Activating Mods

Once you have installed a mod, you need to activate it in Rome 2. Launch Rome 2 and go to the “Mod Manager” section in the main menu.

Here, you will see a list of all installed mods.

Select the mod(s) you want to activate by checking their respective checkboxes. You can also adjust their load order by using drag-and-drop functionality.

Note:

The load order determines which mods take priority in case of conflicts or overlapping changes. It’s generally recommended to keep gameplay-altering mods at a lower load order than cosmetic or minor mods.

Step 7: Launching Rome 2 with Mods

After activating your desired mods, click on “Play” in Rome 2’s main menu to start the game with your mods enabled. The game will now load with all the changes introduced by your installed mods.

Note:

If you encounter any issues or conflicts with your installed mods, try disabling them one by one in the Mod Manager until you identify the problematic one.

Congratulations!

You have successfully installed mods for Rome 2. Enjoy exploring the vast variety of mods available and make your Rome 2 experience even more exciting!
