To begin, shuffle the deck and deal out all the cards evenly among the players. Each player should hold their cards in a face-down pile in front of them. The remaining cards should be placed in a draw pile in the center of the playing area.
The player to the left of the dealer goes first by drawing one card from the draw pile and placing it face-up next to their own pile. If they have a matching card in their own pile, they can place it on top of the face-up card and say “Scramble!” This signifies that all players must now race to find a matching card in their own piles.
Players can only use one hand to search through their own pile and must keep their other hand behind their back at all times. The first player to find a matching card can place it on top of the face-up card pile and say “Scramble!” again, starting another round.
If a player cannot find a matching card in their own pile, they must draw one from the draw pile and add it to their hand. Play then moves on to the next player.
There are also special cards that can be played during Christmas Vacation Card Scramble. If a player places down an Ace, everyone must slap their hands on top of the face-up card pile as quickly as possible. The last person to do so must take all cards in that pile.
If someone places down a King, everyone must pass their entire hand to the left or right, depending on which way the King was placed. If a Queen is played, the next player must draw two cards from the draw pile. If a Jack is played, the next player must draw one card.
The game continues until one player has successfully gotten rid of all their cards. That player is declared the winner!
