By Michael Ferguson

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is a timeless classic that has become a holiday tradition for many families. This comedy film, directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik, follows the Griswold family as they prepare for their annual Christmas celebrations.

After a series of hilarious mishaps, the Griswolds finally manage to get their Christmas lights to work. The entire neighborhood is awed by the display, and Clark Griswold, played by Chevy Chase, finally feels like he has accomplished something great.

However, things take a turn for the worse when Uncle Lewis accidentally ignites the Christmas tree with his cigar. Chaos ensues as everyone tries to put out the fire, and the tree goes flying out of the window. Finally, Clark decides that they need a new tree and takes his family on an outing to find one.

After a wild goose chase through town, they finally arrive at the lot where they find their perfect tree. However, while cutting it down themselves with a chainsaw, they accidentally cause chaos and cut down several other trees in the process.

Finally back home with their new tree in tow, Clark is overjoyed to have all his family together for Christmas dinner. He even invites Cousin Eddie and his family over for dinner.

The movie ends with Clark’s boss arriving at their door to deliver Clark’s bonus check which he had been anxiously waiting for throughout the movie. The check was worth much less than he had expected but after realizing how important it was for him to have his family around him during Christmas time he felt content.

In conclusion, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation ends on a heartwarming note as Clark realizes that what truly matters during this time of year is not money or status but being surrounded by loved ones and making memories that will last forever.
