How I Spent My Summer Vacation at Home?

By Michael Ferguson

Summer vacations are a time to unwind, relax and rejuvenate. But with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we all had to spend our summer vacation at home.

At first, I was disappointed as I had planned a trip with my friends. But then I realized that this was an opportunity to explore new things and spend quality time with my family.

Learning New Skills

I decided to make the most of my time by learning new skills. I enrolled in an online course on web development and learned HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It was challenging at first, but with practice and dedication, I was able to create my own website.

Spending Time with Family

Since we were all at home, we got ample time to bond as a family. We played board games, watched movies together, and cooked delicious meals. We also took up gardening as a hobby and spent hours tending to our plants.

Exploring My City

Since traveling was not an option, I decided to explore my city like a tourist. I visited museums, parks and historical landmarks that I had never been to before. It was interesting to learn about the history of my city and appreciate its beauty.

  • The Museum of Natural History: This museum has an extensive collection of fossils and exhibits on natural history.
  • The Botanical Garden: The Botanical Garden is home to over 10,000 different species of plants from all over the world.
  • The Statue of Liberty: One of the most iconic landmarks in the world is located in my city.

Taking Up Exercise

With gyms closed due to the pandemic, it was important for me to stay active at home. I started practicing yoga every morning which helped me stay fit both physically and mentally. I also went for walks in the evening, which was a great way to get some fresh air and clear my mind.

Conclusion

Overall, spending my summer vacation at home turned out to be a great experience. I learned new skills, bonded with my family, explored my city, and stayed fit. It taught me that sometimes the best experiences are the ones that we least expect.
