How Many Goals Does Barcelona Need to Be PSG?

By Anna Duncan

With just a few days left before the highly-anticipated second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 match between Barcelona and PSG, fans all over the world are eagerly waiting to see if Barcelona can pull off an incredible comeback. The first leg saw PSG dominate the game with a 4-1 victory at Camp Nou, leaving Barcelona with a mountain to climb.

So, how many goals does Barcelona need to be PSG? The answer is simple – a minimum of three goals.

Barcelona’s task may seem daunting, but it’s not impossible. They have a history of comebacks in the Champions League, most notably against PSG in 2017 when they overturned a 4-0 deficit in the second leg to win 6-1. Although this time around, they will have to do it without their talismanic figure Lionel Messi who is out with a suspension.

To achieve their goal, Barcelona will need to be clinical in front of goal and solid at the back. They will have to score early and often while keeping PSG from scoring any away goals. This means that every player on the pitch will have to give their best performance and leave everything on the field.

One key player for Barcelona will be Antoine Griezmann who has been in fine form recently. He will need to step up and lead the team’s attack with Ousmane Dembele and Martin Braithwaite also playing crucial roles.

Defensively, Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet will have to be rock solid at the back while Jordi Alba and Sergino Dest provide support from full-back positions.

While Barcelona needs three goals to force extra time, four goals would secure their place in the quarterfinals even if PSG scores one away goal. It’s a tall order, but if there’s any team that can do it, it’s Barcelona.

In conclusion, Barcelona needs at least three goals against PSG to keep their Champions League hopes alive. It’s a tough task, but if they can replicate their previous heroics in the competition, anything is possible. So, all eyes will be on the Parc des Princes on March 10th to see if Barcelona can pull off another incredible comeback.
