Is Chris Hemsworth Scene in Vacation Real?

By Alice Nichols

If you’re a fan of the Vacation movie franchise, you probably remember the scene in the 2015 reboot where Chris Hemsworth makes a brief but memorable appearance as Stone Crandall, the well-endowed and charismatic brother-in-law of Rusty Griswold (played by Ed Helms). But is Chris Hemsworth’s scene in Vacation real?

The answer is yes and no. While Hemsworth did indeed film the scene, what viewers see on screen is not actually his real anatomy.

In the scene, Hemsworth’s character Stone Crandall enters the room wearing only a towel around his waist. As he walks towards Rusty and his family, the towel drops to reveal what appears to be an impressive package. The camera zooms in on Rusty’s shocked expression before cutting away to the next scene.

So how did they achieve this effect? The answer lies in the magic of Hollywood special effects.

According to an interview with director John Francis Daley, Hemsworth was actually wearing a prosthetic penis during filming. The prosthetic was designed to be comically large and exaggerated to fit with the tone of the movie.

While some may have been disappointed that Hemsworth’s impressive endowment wasn’t real, others found it hilarious and fitting with the over-the-top comedy style of Vacation.

Aside from this memorable scene, Chris Hemsworth’s performance as Stone Crandall was generally well-received by audiences. The Australian actor displayed his comedic chops in a departure from his more serious roles like Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In conclusion, while Chris Hemsworth did appear in Vacation and film a memorable scene involving his anatomy, what viewers saw on screen was not actually real. Nonetheless, it added an extra layer of humor to an already hilarious movie and showcased Hemsworth’s versatility as an actor.
