Is Disney Riviera Resort a Moderate or Deluxe?

By Robert Palmer

If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, one of the most important decisions you’ll make is where to stay. With so many options to choose from, it can be overwhelming to try and decide which resort is right for you. One question that often comes up is whether Disney Riviera Resort is a moderate or deluxe resort.

First, let’s define what we mean by moderate and deluxe. Disney categorizes its resorts into four different tiers: value, moderate, deluxe, and villas.

Value resorts are the most affordable options, while villas are typically the most expensive and luxurious. Moderate and deluxe resorts fall somewhere in between.

So where does Disney Riviera Resort fit in? Technically, it’s considered a deluxe resort. However, there are a few reasons why some people might argue that it’s more of a moderate resort.

One factor that could lead people to view Riviera as a moderate resort is its size. While many deluxe resorts are sprawling complexes with multiple buildings and hundreds of rooms, Riviera is relatively small with just over 400 guest rooms. This can give it a more intimate feel that’s similar to some of the moderate resorts.

Another factor to consider is the price point. While Riviera is technically classified as a deluxe resort, its room rates are often comparable to those of some moderate resorts. This may make it more accessible for families who want some of the amenities of a deluxe resort but don’t want to pay top dollar.

Of course, there are also plenty of reasons why Riviera could be considered a true deluxe resort. For one thing, its theming and decor are top-notch. The resort was inspired by Europe’s Mediterranean coast and features elegant touches like mosaics, marble floors, and lush landscaping.

Additionally, Riviera offers many of the same amenities you’d expect from other deluxe resorts. For example, there are multiple dining options on site (including character meals), a fitness center, a spa, and a variety of pool options.

Ultimately, whether you consider Disney Riviera Resort to be a moderate or deluxe resort may come down to personal preference. It’s certainly true that the resort offers some of the amenities and theming that you’d expect from a deluxe resort, but its smaller size and more affordable rates could also make it feel like a moderate resort to some guests.

If you’re trying to decide whether Riviera is right for you, it’s worth considering what your priorities are. Do you want a more intimate resort with lower prices?

Or are you looking for the full deluxe experience, complete with all the bells and whistles? Whatever your preference, there’s no denying that Riviera is one of Disney World’s most beautiful and unique resorts.
