The capital of the country, San Salvador, is home to the largest metropolitan area in El Salvador. It’s a bustling city with plenty of historical sites to explore and plenty of cultural attractions to enjoy.

Visitors can take in a show at one of the many theaters or visit some of the museums such as the National Museum or the Museum of Modern Art. There’s plenty to do here from shopping in one of its many markets to exploring its lovely parks such as Parque San Jacinto or Parque Libertad.

Outside of San Salvador, there are plenty more attractions for tourists to enjoy. The Pacific Coast has some stunning beaches with gorgeous views and plenty of opportunities for sunbathing or surfing.

There are also several volcanoes such as Cerro Verde National Park which offer spectacular views and incredible hiking trails. Further inland lies Cinquera Forest Reserve which is home to a wide variety of wildlife such as howler monkeys and ocelots.

El Salvador isn’t only about outdoor adventure; it also offers a vibrant nightlife scene with plenty of bars and nightclubs located around San Salvador as well as other cities throughout the country. There are also many cultural festivals that take place throughout the year featuring traditional music, art, food and dance from various parts of El Salvador.
