Is MSC Meraviglia the Biggest Cruise Ship?

By Anna Duncan

MSC Meraviglia is an iconic cruise ship that has attracted a lot of attention since it was launched in 2017. The vessel boasts an enormous size, measuring 339m in length and weighing over 154,000 tonnes. It is hard to believe, but MSC Meraviglia is actually the fourth largest cruise ship ever built.

The MSC Meraviglia has a capacity of 4,500 passengers and 1,536 crew members. It has 18 decks and encompasses over 20 different restaurants and bars, three swimming pools and a vast array of entertainment venues including two theatres, a casino and even a roller coaster! The ship also features one of the largest LED screens at sea – a massive 80m by 22m screen that covers the aft end of the vessel.

MSC Meraviglia is certainly an impressive vessel but is it the biggest cruise ship? In terms of length, it comes in fourth behind Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas (362m), Harmony of the Seas (361m) and Allure Of The Seas (360m). However, when it comes to gross tonnage (the total internal volume of all cargo spaces on board), MSC Meraviglia takes first place with 154,000 tonnes compared to Symphony Of The Seas’ 226,963 tonnes.

So when it comes to size, MSC Meraviglia definitely stands out as one of the biggest cruise ships around. The sheer scale of this grand vessel means there is something for everyone onboard – whether you are looking for relaxation or excitement during your voyage.

Conclusion: In conclusion, while MSC Meraviglia may not be the longest cruise ship ever built at 339 metres long; it certainly holds its own as one of the biggest due to its enormous gross tonnage amounting to 154 000 tonnes. As such, MSC Meraviglia can rightly be called one of – if not THE – biggest cruise ships around today.
