Is the Disney Cruise Ship Still in Dover?

By Alice Nichols

In recent years, Disney Cruise Lines have become increasingly popular, with many families opting for an unforgettable vacation aboard one of the company’s luxurious ships. However, when it comes to the Disney Cruise Ship that is based in Dover, there has been much speculation about its current status.

The original ship that operated out of Dover was the Disney Magic. It was part of a fleet of four ships and was renowned for its luxurious amenities such as spacious cabins and delicious cuisine. Sadly, in 2018 it was announced that the Disney Magic would no longer be sailing from Dover due to lack of demand.

Following this announcement, there were rumors that another ship from the fleet would replace it. However, this was never officially confirmed and no further information about a replacement vessel has been released since then. Despite this uncertainty, it is believed that Disney is still committed to maintaining their presence in Dover.

In fact, in 2020 Disney announced a multi-million-pound investment in port facilities at Dover’s Western Docks. This included plans for a new terminal building and upgrades to mooring infrastructure which aimed to improve customer experience for visitors arriving by cruise ships or ferries.

As part of this investment, there were also plans to develop and enhance the area around the docks which could potentially lead to new attractions being built in and around Dover’s waterfront. While these plans are still ongoing and have yet to be fully realised, they demonstrate that Disney has not given up on their presence in Dover.

Conclusion:

It appears that while there is no active Disney Cruise Ship currently stationed in Dover at present, the company does still maintain an interest in the port city and is investing heavily into its development and infrastructure. As such, it is possible that a new ship may be sent to replace the beloved Disney Magic at some point in future.
