The Polynesian Resort, a beloved Disney World hotel known for its tropical theming and prime location on the Seven Seas Lagoon, is currently undergoing a major renovation. The project, which was originally announced in 2019, is expected to bring a host of new updates and features to the resort.
One of the most significant changes to the Polynesian Resort will be the addition of Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villas. These rooms, which are designed for Disney’s timeshare program, will offer guests even more options when it comes to accommodations. The new villas will be located in a separate building from the main hotel, and will feature their own entrance and lobby.
In addition to the DVC villas, the Polynesian Resort is also getting a refreshed lobby area. Guests can expect to see new decor inspired by Pacific Island culture, as well as updated furnishings and lighting. The resort’s monorail station will also be relocated during this renovation process.
Another exciting addition coming to the Polynesian Resort is a brand-new restaurant called “Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto.” This popular bar and eatery has been a fan favorite at Disneyland in California for years, and now guests at Disney World can experience it for themselves. Trader Sam’s offers unique cocktails served in creative vessels (like tiki mugs), along with small bites like sushi rolls and pork dumplings.
While all of these changes are certainly exciting, they do mean that some areas of the Polynesian Resort will be closed during construction. For example, the popular “Ohana” restaurant is currently closed while it undergoes refurbishment. Additionally, certain guest rooms may be unavailable at various times throughout the renovation process.
Despite these temporary closures and inconveniences, many Disney fans are eagerly anticipating the completion of this renovation project at the Polynesian Resort. With new DVC villas, refreshed decor throughout the hotel, and a must-visit new restaurant, the Polynesian is sure to continue to be a popular choice for Disney World guests for years to come.
