Is There a Cruise Ship to Mackinac Island?

By Michael Ferguson

Mackinac Island is a beautiful, secluded island located in Michigan’s upper peninsula. It has been a popular tourist destination for many years and is known for its picturesque views, unique blend of Victorian and Native American culture, and outdoor activities like hiking and biking. But there’s one thing that Mackinac Island doesn’t have: a cruise ship.

Despite the fact that Mackinac Island is surrounded by water, there are no cruise ships that go directly to the island. The closest you can get is to take a ferry from either Mackinaw City or St. Ignace to the island. Both ferries make several trips throughout the day and offer spectacular views of the island from the water.

For those who want a more luxurious experience, there are several charter companies that offer boat tours around Mackinac Island. These tours usually last between one to two hours and provide visitors with an up-close look at some of the island’s stunning beauty as well as interesting facts about its history and culture.

Some boat tours also include lunch or dinner aboard the vessel so visitors can enjoy a meal while taking in all of the sights.

The closest cruise ships to Mackinac Island are located in nearby ports such as Detroit or Milwaukee. These ships typically offer three-day cruises that include stops at other destinations along Lake Michigan’s shoreline, such as Chicago or Green Bay, before returning back to their port of origin. While these cruises don’t go directly to Mackinac Island, they provide an excellent opportunity for travelers to explore other cities on Lake Michigan while still enjoying some time on the water.

Conclusion:

Is there a cruise ship to Mackinac Island? Unfortunately, no; however, visitors can still experience all that Mackinac Island has to offer by taking a ferry from either Mackinaw City or St. Ignace or chartering a boat tour around the island’s beautiful shores. Additionally, travelers can enjoy some time on Lake Michigan by taking one of many cruises leaving from ports such as Detroit or Milwaukee which will provide them with wonderful views of other cities along its shoreline before returning back home again.
