Is There a Hogwarts Express in London?

By Michael Ferguson

If you’re a Harry Potter fan planning a trip to London, you might be wondering if there’s a Hogwarts Express in the city. Unfortunately, the answer is no – but don’t worry, there are still plenty of ways to experience the magic of Harry Potter in London and beyond.

Firstly, it’s important to note that the Hogwarts Express is not a real train. It’s a fictional train that appears in the Harry Potter books and movies, transporting students from King’s Cross Station in London to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. While you won’t be able to ride the Hogwarts Express itself, there are a few ways you can get close to the experience.

One option is to visit the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter.

This attraction is located just outside of London and offers visitors the chance to explore actual sets from the movies, including the Hogwarts Express itself. You’ll be able to walk through one of the train carriages and even pose for photos on Platform 9 3/4.

If you’re looking for something closer to central London, you can also visit King’s Cross Station itself. While there’s no actual Hogwarts Express train waiting for you at Platform 9 3/4, there is a special installation where you can take photos pretending to push your trolley through the barrier between Platforms 9 and 10.

In addition to these attractions, there are also various Harry Potter walking tours available in London that will take you past filming locations from the movies. You can see places like Diagon Alley and the Leaky Cauldron up close while learning more about their significance in the Harry Potter universe.

While there may not be an actual Hogwarts Express train waiting for you in London, there are still plenty of ways to immerse yourself in the world of Harry Potter during your visit. Whether it’s exploring sets from the movies or posing for photos at Platform 9 3/4, you’re sure to have a magical time.
