Vaishno Devi is a revered Hindu pilgrimage site located in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Vaishno Devi, who is believed to grant wishes and fulfill the prayers of her devotees. However, due to the current pandemic situation, there has been a lot of confusion regarding whether Vaishno Devi is open for tourism or not.

According to the latest information available on the official website of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), the temple has been opened for devotees since August 16th, 2021. However, there are certain guidelines that must be followed by all visitors to ensure their safety and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

  • The number of visitors per day has been capped at 25,000.

Journey to Vaishno Devi:

The journey to Vaishno Devi involves a trek of around 12 kilometers from Katra town. Visitors can either walk or take a pony/helicopter ride to reach the temple. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions, only those who have confirmed helicopter bookings will be allowed entry.

Accommodation:

There are various accommodation options available for visitors in Katra town, ranging from budget hotels to luxury resorts. However, due to limited capacity and COVID-19 restrictions, visitors are advised to make advance bookings.
