Where to stay in Barcelona? Are you searching for a Luxury 5 star Boutique Hotel in the city? I loved my stay at Serras Hotel Barcelona. The 28 Room hotel is on Passeig de Colon overlooking Port Vell, a Marina for luxury Yachts. A great location in the Gothic quarter of the city nearby many of the attractions you will want to visit during your stay.

Regular readers know that I only enjoy staying at excellent Hotels. Serras Hotel Barcelona certainly fits into that category. Chic and elegant with friendly and helpful staff, a very good restaurant and stunning Rooftop Bar.
I was greeted with a welcome tray of hot flannel, orange juice and a handmade chocolate. The staff were very welcoming and I felt right at home straight away. My Junior Suite was number 202 with lovely views overlooking the Marina. I just loved watching the world go by.

Serras Hotel Barcelona is a haven of peace and tranquility amidst a vibrant and exciting city. Chic and stylish interiors by Interior designer Eva Martinez make for a comfortable place to stay designed for 21st century life. Impeccable service and elegant interior style. Serras Hotel Barcelona won Conde Nast Spain ‘Best Urban Hotel 2021’ Award.

My Suite was spacious, relaxing and very comfortable. I also loved watching the world go by out of my large Patio windows looking over the Marina. Although located over a busy street the Suite was completely soundproof thanks to triple glazing. A muted colour palette makes for a very relaxing environment. Lovely little touches in the suite made my stay extra special. A welcome bottle of Cava and snacks, a mobile phone to carry around and use everwhere in Barcelona free of charge. Gorgeous Diptyque toiletries in the luxurious bathroom.

Tea and coffee making and free mineral water (in glass bottles which made me very happy!).

Let’s talk about the bed! The best night’s sleep I have enjoyed in weeks! I probably spent far too long relaxing and catching up on much needed sleep. The bed is from a top London manufacturer who supplies Royal Palaces. I really need one of those beds at home. A good nights sleep is so important and totally guaranteed in these sumptious beds at Serras Hotel.

My suite Number 202 enjoyed a shower but some of the other Junior Suites have bathtubs, take a look at the photo below. Serras Hotel Barcelona is spotlessly clean and sparking everywhere, just as it looks on the photographs.

My luxurious bathroom at Serras Hotel Barcelona complete with Diptyque products and bathrobes.

The Rooftop Bar, restaurant and plunge pool enjoy spectacular views over Port Vell and beyond. The bar and restaurant are open to non residents, so you can go and enjoy this even if not staying in the hotel.

Enjoy the sea air and stunning views from the Rootop with sunloungers and a plunge pool.

The Rooftop Restaurant El Sueno at Serras Hotel Barcelona. All of the staff at Serras Hotel are superb. Friendly, welcoming and helpful, they will make your stay extra special. This is one of the joys of staying at a smaller hotel, you feel like a cherished guest rather than just a number of hundreds!

Enjoy the Mezzanne Library, Nine Bar and relaxing area which has some lovely books about the artist Pablo Picasso. I was thrilled to learn that he painted some of his early work in a studio right here.

There is also a Fitness Centre, 24 hour hour room service, Smart TV, wireless sound system in the rooms. For me, the delightful, attentive and friendly staff are one of the best things about Serras Hotel Barcelona.
Barcelona is, of course, famed for its many excellent restaurants and the Serras Hotel concierge can make restaurant suggestions and arrange a reservation for you in the restaurant of your choosing. I dined in the Serras Hotel Barcelona Informal Restaurant situated on the ground floor.

My dinner at Informal Restaurant, Serras Hotel Barcelona was delicious. The restaurant is overseen by a Michelin starred Chef, Marc Gassons. Enjoy Catalan and Mediterranean dishes created by him that change with the seasons.

I chose Tapenade and spicy tomato with breadsticks to accompany a perfect Mojito cocktail , Roast Potato with Aoli and Spicy Tomato sauce. A delicious Pumpkin Black Mushroom and Cheese tartlet followed by Charcoal grilled Turbot served with Leek, Artichoke and Peppers. Served with a glass of Taleia white wine. Dessert was a Chocolate bread Mousse. Everything was delicious! Informal Restaurant enjoys an open kitchen so you can see the food being prepared.

After a good nights sleep, a magnificent breakfast was waiting in Informal restaurant.A good choice of buffet breakfast and the chef on hand to make you whatever you want for a cooked breakfast.
Then I was ready to explore the city. Pack walking shoes because that is the best way to see everything. I visited the Picasso Museum which is a few minutes walk from the hotel and meandered through the historic little streets of the Gothic Quarter to get there. Serras Hotel Barcelona concierge can arrange tickets for all the Barcelona attractions, including the Picasso Museum. However, December 2021 was very quiet and I just strolled in and bought a ticket enjoying the Museum with only a handful of other visitors. I love visiting places out of season, less expensive, less crowded and thoroughly enjoyable.

Take a walk around Port Vell. You can hire a Scooter or Bike 100 metres from the hotel if you want to join the many other Scooter riders in the city. Las Ramblas is a short 5 minute walk from Serras Hotel. Palau Guell is also a short stroll away and definitely worth a visit.
My favourite shopping street is Passeig de Gracia and also home to Casa Battlo Gaudi, one of the Gaudi masterpieces. There are many vibrant restaurants and street Cafes everywhere in Barcelona. A city by the sea is always a little bit special and you can enjoy seaside walks and the beaches too!
