Was Titanic a Cruise Ship?

By Michael Ferguson

The Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in the early hours of April 15, 1912, after striking an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. The sinking of Titanic caused the deaths of more than 1,500 people in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history.

The Titanic was a steamship. It had three classes: first class, second class and third class.

First-class passengers were mainly wealthy people and celebrities. Second-class passengers were mainly professional people such as doctors and businessmen. Third-class passengers were mainly immigrants from Europe.

The Titanic was considered to be an “unsinkable” ship because it was equipped with a double hull and 16 watertight compartments. It also had advanced navigation equipment and powerful engines that enabled it to travel long distances at high speeds.

The Titanic had many amenities for its passengers, including a library, swimming pool, gymnasium, barbershop and restaurant. It also had luxurious cabins fitted with modern conveniences such as electric lights and private bathrooms.

Conclusion:

The Titanic was not a cruise ship but rather a steamship with several luxurious amenities for its passengers. Despite being equipped with advanced safety features, it tragically sank on its maiden voyage due to an iceberg collision resulting in the loss of over 1,500 lives.
