By Michael Ferguson

Vacation is a 2015 American comedy film which is a sequel to the original National Lampoon’s Vacation. The movie was directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, and it stars Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Leslie Mann, and Chris Hemsworth. But the question remains – Was Vacation a good movie?

Plot

The plot of the movie revolves around the Griswold family who decides to take a road trip from their hometown of Chicago to Walley World in California. The father, Rusty Griswold (played by Ed Helms), wants to recreate the vacation he had with his family when he was young. However, things do not go as planned.

Performances

The performances of the actors are one of the highlights of this movie. Ed Helms does an excellent job as Rusty Griswold, and his comic timing is impeccable. Christina Applegate also shines in her role as Rusty’s wife, Debbie.

Humor

The humor in Vacation is very much in line with the previous movies in the franchise. It is crude, over-the-top, and often ridiculous. If you are a fan of this type of humor, then you will enjoy this movie.

Criticisms

However, not everyone enjoyed this movie. Some critics felt that it was too similar to the previous films and lacked originality. Others felt that some of the jokes were forced and fell flat.

Conclusion

In conclusion, whether or not Vacation is a good movie depends on your personal taste in humor and your expectations going into it. If you are looking for a mindless comedy with some great performances, then you will enjoy this film.

However, if you are looking for something more substantial or original, then you may want to look elsewhere. Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide if this movie is worth your time and money.
