What Airport Do You Fly Into for Dubai?

If you are planning a trip to Dubai, one of the first things you need to consider is which airport you will be flying into. Dubai is served by two international airports – Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC).

Let’s take a closer look at each of these airports and the airlines that operate there.

Dubai International Airport (DXB)

Dubai International Airport, located in the Garhoud district, is the primary airport serving Dubai. It is one of the busiest airports in the world in terms of passenger traffic.

DXB offers a wide range of facilities and services to cater to travelers’ needs.

Airlines: Many major international airlines operate flights to and from DXB, including Emirates, Flydubai, British Airways, Lufthansa, Air France, Qatar Airways, and more.

Terminals: The airport has three main terminals – Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3. Terminal 1 primarily handles international flights for various airlines.

Terminal 2 mainly serves regional and low-cost carriers. Terminal 3 is dedicated to Emirates airline.

Facilities: DXB offers a wide range of facilities such as duty-free shops, restaurants, lounges, currency exchange counters, car rental services, and more. The airport also features excellent connectivity with various transportation options available for travelers to reach their destinations within Dubai.

Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC)

Al Maktoum International Airport is located in Jebel Ali, about 37 kilometers southwest of Dubai city center. Although it is not as busy as DXB, DWC is an important airport for Dubai’s future growth plans and serves as a major hub for cargo operations.

Airlines: Currently, only a few airlines operate passenger flights to and from DWC. These include Wizz Air, Air Arabia, and flydubai.

Terminals: The airport has a single passenger terminal that handles both arrivals and departures.

Facilities: While not as extensive as DXB, DWC still offers essential facilities such as duty-free shops, cafes, currency exchange services, and car rental options. It’s worth noting that the airport is continually expanding its infrastructure to accommodate more passengers in the future.

Which Airport Should You Choose?

The choice between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) depends on various factors. If you are flying with one of the major international airlines or prefer a wider range of airline options, DXB would be the best choice for you.

On the other hand, if you are flying with one of the few airlines that operate from DWC or have specific reasons to be closer to Jebel Ali area, then DWC might be more suitable.

In conclusion, Dubai offers two airports to choose from – DXB and DWC. Both airports provide essential facilities and services to ensure a comfortable journey for travelers.

Consider your airline preferences, destination within Dubai, and other factors when deciding which airport to fly into. Safe travels!
