What Cruise Ship Did Sib Hashian Die On?

On March 22nd, 2017, Sib Hashian, a drummer known for his work with the rock band ‘Boston’ passed away. He was 67 years old.

Hashian was performing on board the MS Anthem of the Seas cruise liner when he collapsed and died.

Sib Hashian spent much of his career as a drummer for Boston, joining the band in 1975 and playing on their first two albums: Boston (1976) and Don’t Look Back (1978). He also performed on their third album Third Stage (1986).

Hashian was featured in the 2004 documentary film Rock School, which followed Paul Green’s School of Rock Music students as they prepared to play at a festival.

The MS Anthem of the Seas is a Royal Caribbean cruise ship that was built in 2015 by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. The ship is part of the Quantum class of vessels and has a length of 1,142 feet and can accommodate up to 4,905 passengers and 1,500 crew members. The vessel has numerous amenities such as 18 decks, 20 restaurants and bars, six pools, an outdoor movie theater and an interior shopping mall.

At the time of his death, Sib Hashian was performing with his son Adam’s band onboard MS Anthem of the Seas for an audience of about 2,000 people. The performance was part of Royal Caribbean’s ‘Live Music Cruise’ series which allows passengers to enjoy performances from some of the most popular bands from around the world while onboard their cruise ships.
