What Do You Sleep in When Backpacking?

When backpacking, you want to bring the least amount of gear while still being able to rest comfortably. For many backpackers, that means leaving the traditional bedding behind and opting for a multi-purpose sleeping system.

The most common sleeping system for backpacking is a combination of a sleeping bag and an inflatable sleeping pad. The sleeping pad provides insulation from the cold ground, while the sleeping bag keeps you warm and comfortable in cooler temperatures. Both of these items are lightweight and easy to pack, making them great choices for long-distance hikes.

Another option for backpacking trips is a hammock. Hammocks are lightweight and easy to set up, making them ideal for camping in remote areas. They can provide superior comfort and support compared to traditional ground camping, as well as protection from the elements such as rain or wind.

For those who prefer tent camping, there are several lightweight options available. Ultralight tents offer excellent protection from the elements while still being easy to carry around on your back. A two-person tent is usually enough room for two backpackers to sleep comfortably.
