If you’re a horror movie fan, then you must have watched the Resort movie that was released in 2021. The movie is directed by Taylor Chien and stars Bianca Haase, Brock O’Hurn, and Michael Vlamis.
It revolves around four friends who go on a vacation to a remote island resort, only to find themselves being hunted by some mysterious killers. The movie has an intense climax that left many viewers confused about what actually happened at the end. In this article, we’ll break it down for you.
Recap of the Movie
Before we dive into the ending, let’s do a quick recap of the movie’s plot. The story follows four friends – Sophia, Elena, Liam, and Lucas – who decide to take a vacation to a remote island resort called Paradise Island. When they arrive at the island, they find out that there are no other guests except for them and the staff seems to be hiding something.
As they spend their days on the island, strange things start happening. They hear weird noises at night and find bloodstains in their rooms. Soon enough, they realize that they’re being hunted by some mysterious killers who are after them for unknown reasons.
What Happened at the End?
The climax of the movie is where things get really intense. Sophia manages to escape from her captors and runs into Elena and Liam who are also trying to escape. Together, they come up with a plan to fight back against their attackers.
They manage to kill one of their attackers but soon realize that there are more of them out there. In an attempt to lure them out, Liam cuts himself and uses his blood as bait. This plan works as one of the killers comes out of hiding.
Meanwhile, Lucas is still being held captive by another killer who reveals himself to be one of the staff members working at Paradise Island. He tells Lucas that they’re part of a cult that sacrifices people to their deity in exchange for immortality.
Sophia, Elena, and Liam manage to kill the killer who came out of hiding but are then chased by another one. In a nail-biting scene, they manage to trap the killer in an elevator and escape from the island on a boat.
The Twist
As they’re sailing away from the island, they see a group of people standing on the shore, watching them leave. Among these people is Lucas, who was actually a part of the cult all along. He had been working with the killers to lure his friends into their trap.
The movie ends with Lucas sitting amongst the cult members, smiling as he watches his friends sail away. This twist left many viewers shocked and confused about what had just happened.
Conclusion
The ending of the Resort movie is definitely one that will leave you with mixed emotions. While it was satisfying to see Sophia, Elena, and Liam survive and escape from the island, it was also heartbreaking to realize that Lucas had been working against them all along.
