What Happened to the Carnival Fantasy Cruise Ship?

By Anna Duncan

The Carnival Fantasy was a cruise ship that operated from 1990 to 2020. It was owned and operated by Carnival Cruise Line, one of the largest cruise lines in the world. The Fantasy was the first of its class, and it set a new standard for the industry.

The Carnival Fantasy was a 2,056-foot-long ship that could accommodate 2,052 passengers. It had 11 decks and featured an array of amenities such as a casino, multiple restaurants, bars, lounges, a cinema, a spa and fitness center, two swimming pools, two Jacuzzis and much more.

The Carnival Fantasy made its maiden voyage on April 7th 1990 when it departed Miami for Nassau in the Bahamas. For over 30 years the Fantasy sailed around the world and visited some of the most popular destinations including Jamaica, Mexico and the Caribbean islands.

In 2020 however Carnival announced that it would be retiring the Carnival Fantasy after 30 years of service due to “changing customer preferences”. The news came as a shock to many passengers who had enjoyed cruising on board the iconic ship for so many years.

The last voyage of Carnival Fantasy took place in April 2020 when it sailed from Miami to Nassau in celebration of its 30th anniversary. After arriving in Nassau on April 14th 2020, the ship returned to Miami where it was retired for good.

Since then there have been rumors circulating about what will become of the Carnival Fantasy but nothing concrete has been confirmed yet. Some reports suggest that it could be sold off to another cruise line or converted into a floating hotel or casino but at this point nothing is known for sure.

Whatever happens to this iconic cruise liner in the future one thing is certain: The Carnival Fantasy will always have a special place in our hearts as we remember all of our amazing experiences on board during its 30 year run.

Conclusion

The fate of the Carnival Fantasy is still uncertain at this point but what is certain is that this iconic ship will always remain in our hearts as we remember all of our amazing experiences aboard during its 30 year run.
