What Happened to the Sea Princess Cruise Ship?

By Anna Duncan

The Sea Princess Cruise Ship has had a long but tumultuous history. It was built in 1974 by the Italian company Costa Cruises, and was the largest cruise ship of its time.

The ship featured many of the amenities that are now commonplace on luxury liners such as an indoor pool, Jacuzzi, and multiple restaurants. It sailed around the world for over 20 years before finally being retired in 1996.

The vessel then began a new life as a floating hotel off the coast of Dubai in 2003. This change of use allowed it to become one of the first floating hotels in the world. Guests were able to enjoy all of the same luxuries that they would have experienced on a normal cruise, but with stunning views of the Dubai skyline.

Unfortunately for the Sea Princess, this venture was short-lived and it was sold to a private owner in 2007. The new owner planned to convert it into an entertainment complex featuring casinos, bars, and live music venues. However, these plans never came to fruition due to financial difficulties.

The ship then took on another new role as a floating hotel again in 2010, this time off the coast of India. This venture too met with limited success and it was sold once again in 2014. It has since been used as storage for various goods and is currently docked at a port in India.

Conclusion:
