If you were a kid in the 90s, chances are you’ve watched Rugrats. The animated series followed the adventures of a group of toddlers, including Tommy Pickles, his best friend Chuckie Finster, twins Phil and Lil DeVille, and Angelica Pickles. One of the most memorable moments in the show’s history was when they traveled to Paris in the movie “Rugrats in Paris: The Movie”.
The movie begins with Stu Pickles, Tommy’s father, being summoned to EuroReptarland in Paris to fix a malfunctioning Reptar robot. Stu invites his family and friends to come along for the trip. The kids are excited to go on an adventure and experience all that Paris has to offer.
Upon arrival at EuroReptarland, the group meets Coco LaBouche, the head of marketing at the amusement park. Coco is tasked with finding a new mother for her boss’ daughter, who she hopes will marry her and make her rich. She notices that Chas Finster, Chuckie’s father, is a single dad and devises a plan to make him fall in love with her.
Meanwhile, Angelica overhears Coco’s plan and convinces the babies to help Chuckie find a new mom so that Coco won’t be able to marry his dad. The babies hatch a plan to get Chas together with Kira Watanabe-Finster, Kimi’s mother who works at EuroReptarland as a translator.
Throughout their adventure around Paris, we see iconic landmarks such as Notre Dame Cathedral and Eiffel Tower as well as French cuisine like croissants and escargot. The film also features musical numbers such as “Who Let The Dogs Out” by Baha Men.
In the end, Chas falls for Kira after realizing how much they have in common while Coco is exposed for her scheming ways. The babies manage to save the day and Chuckie gains a new mom.
Overall, “Rugrats in Paris” is a fun-filled adventure that teaches us the importance of family and friendship. It’s a perfect movie for kids and adults alike who want to relive the nostalgia of the 90s.
