What Is Happening With the World Islands Dubai?

By Robert Palmer

Dubai is known for being home to many luxurious and extravagant developments, and the World Islands is one of them. The World Islands is a collection of artificial islands designed in the shape of a world map, located 4 kilometers off the coast of Dubai. Each island represents a different country or region, and they are connected by bridges and waterways.

The project was initially announced in 2003, and construction began in 2005. However, due to the global financial crisis in 2008, the project was put on hold, which led to speculation about its future. Many people wondered if it would ever be completed.

In recent years, there has been renewed interest in the World Islands project. The first island to be developed was Lebanon Island, which opened to the public in 2011 as a private island resort. Since then, other islands have been developed for commercial and residential purposes.

One example is The Heart of Europe, which is a group of six islands that represent different parts of Europe. The islands feature hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues that showcase European culture and lifestyle.

Another development on the World Islands is The Floating Venice, which is an underwater resort that will feature underwater cabins and restaurants. The resort will be modeled after Venice, Italy and will have its own canal system with gondolas.

Despite these developments, there are still many islands on the World Islands that remain undeveloped. Some experts believe that it may take several years before all of the islands are fully developed.

In conclusion, while there were doubts about whether or not the World Islands project would ever come to fruition after being put on hold due to financial issues during the global recession in 2008 but recent developments show that it continues to progress with new hotels/resorts being built on already constructed land masses such as Lebanon Island as well as new projects like The Heart of Europe and The Floating Venice being added to this collection of artificial islands. It’s a fascinating project that is sure to draw even more attention as more islands are developed in the future.
